Our 10th anniversary

Welcome to Wales Millennium Centre's tenth anniversary celebrations.

The Centre was opened with great fanfare by Her Majesty the Queen on 28 November, 2004. It is Wales’ national centre for the performing arts, on a 7.5 acre site on Cardiff’s regenerated waterfront.

Since launch, the Centre has exceeded all expectations, welcoming over 13.5 million people through the doors.  It is home to eight other creative companies who collaborate regularly.

In the last year alone, the Centre has won numerous awards including the Queen’s Award for Enterprise for Sustainable Development, Wales’ National Treasure and UK’s Most Welcoming Theatre – sound evidence that our impact can be felt on many levels: on the economy, the community, our young people, on culture, on sustainability, on tourism. In the last year alone, the Centre has engaged with over 230,000 people through its Creative Learning and Community projects.

Join in as we celebrate 10 years of creativity and impact, and join us looking forward to the next decade.
